‘Christmas Day Lunch on Jesus’ is a meal organised for those in Chesterfield Borough who are disadvantaged in some way. It may be that they are struggling with their mental health, they may be trying to overcome substance abuse issues, they could simply be lonely and alone or struggling financially in the current economic climate. The Lunch is hosted at the Whittington Moor Methodist Church from 14. oo on Christmas Day.
Anne Batty, Paperclip’s Managing Director, and her family have been on the volunteering team at the Lunch over recent years:
‘It’s a fantastic, manic, uplifting event. There’s transport to the Lunch for those that need it, as well as Bingo and other games after Lunch. There is the chance to sing a few carols, and all guests leave with food and gifts to help them over the Christmas season.’
This year, Paperclip is supporting the Lunch by donating and manning a ‘Christmas Day Lunch Hotline’: 01246 948401. If you would like to donate food, gifts or money; volunteer to help out on the day; or, know someone who would enjoy being a guest, simply call the Hotline and a member of the Paperclip team will help you out.
